too old for seventeen

So seventeen magazine is seriously one of my favorite magazines out there. I love it. I used to read it cover to cover. sometimes I would even re-read it just for fun. I couldn’t get enough of it. I mean come on, who doesn’t love the trauma- ramas at the end of it? I know I’ve had my fair share of embarrassing moments! haha. I picked one up the other day to read and I saw all these articles talking about high school and how to get a boy to flirt with you at your locker. I haven't had a locker for two years now and even when I had one, I never used it. that’s when it hit me. I might actually be too old for seventeen. I have pretty given up on ever reading j-14 again ( although, I used to LOVE that one!). for some reason, I thought I would never outgrow seventeen.

it’s strange to think that I won’t be turning to seventeen for advice anymore. we had a good run of it though. I started reading it around the age of 12 and back then I didn’t understand some of the things in it. so it’s a little unsettling to think that I’ve out grown seventeen. I’m only 20 years old so, you would think that I would still have an interest in it but, honestly there’s nothing in there for me. I still might buy seventeen prom from time to time. I love shopping and those dresses are super cute! I just can’t help myself. I guess now it’s time to grow up and start reading Cosmo and People Magazine (I already love both of those, so it’s not really a burden. lol.).

plenty of fish? more like plenty of freaks!

so a friend of my mine told me that she has a plenty of fish account. I was like “what the heck is that”? apparently it’s a dating website. ha! so I decided to create an account for myself. my curiosity got the best of me, I had to see what all the fuss is about (obviously, I don’t plan on dating these guys that I talk to). I realize now that I never should have created an account, I was just setting myself up to be creeped out. my account had been active for maybe ten minutes and I was already getting message from the nastiest looking guys ever! I realize that I may not be a beauty queen, but I like to think that I deserve better than a beer gut and a receding hair line! lol.

anyway, these messages all pretty much said the same thing “you’re cute” or “ I could make you so happy”. umm…. hello! you boys don’t even know me! I don’t understand how it doesn’t bother them.  you basically put yourself out there for a complete stranger. that’s just too awkward for me. dating websites may work for some but, they’re not for me. needless to say, I deleted my account as fast as I could. they make you keep your account up for 24 hours. I guess that’s so you can decided if you really want to get rid of it. I did not need the grace period. I was over it as soon I pressed enter!

now, I know that everyone is shaking their heads and thinking “why in the world would you even create an account”?! I had too though! I wanted to know what happens on plenty of fish. it’s like this thing that I heard  a couple of years ago “ if there is a line anywhere I have to join it. I may not know what the line is for but, I want to find out.” well plenty of fish is my line. lesson learned. I will never jump into something like that again.  I’m sure my soul mate is out there for me and I’m even more positive that I won’t meet him on the internet. there are too many creeps out there and it seems to me like they congregate at plentyoffish.com

I may love dwight schrute but I certainly don’t want to date him!

*I don’t want to offend anyone. if you have a plenty of fish and have had a pleasant experience then, I am so happy for you. I personally am not a fan of online dating.*

Favorite Five Friday!

My  best friend jp suggested that I shake things up on friday and try this blog idea called “favorite five friday”. I list the things that I am currently obsessed with. there’s so many. my mind goes 100 miles per minute. it’s really hard to narrow it down to five but, I’ll try.

1. Dancing with the Stars. It returned last week, and I cannot stop watching it! My favorite couples would definitely be Kirstie and Maks & Chelsea and Mark.

2. Puppies. I really want a Yorkshire terrier puppy!I have been looking for any for sale around here. They’re so cute!
puppies!

3.  Royal Tease nail polish by China Glaze. Lately, purple has been the color I have been obsessing over. Purple sweaters, nail polish, and most importantly purses.

4. “ The Pact” by Jodi Picoult. I have read almost every book she has ever written. but the pact is definitely my favorite.  It’s a tear- jerker though. so if you decide to read it, keep that in mind.

5. Selena Gomez and the Scene. their new song “who says” is amazing.  I’m a selena gomez fan from way back. so naturally when I heard she formed a band I had to check them out.
